Project History

In 2008 at the Amber festival in Istanbul.

Exhibition featuring Frida V. NYC videos in the then brand new POP Planet hairstudio and barbershop in Ljubljana: opening was on Wed 19.12.2007 with doubleplusgood dj support

In 2007 Frida was invited to come to Beijing and take part in the orgnets project - see video by missumi. The new usb router based unit was used there an also presented at the OpenStreetMap conference in Manchester - hear sound. Besides some failing batteries and the damn overexposure on the camera it was all working pretty well. Luckily chinese people massively use electric bikes.

I am glad that I was not harrased or arrested for either gps logging or transporting my makeshift electronic device on these travels, as some people have recently been. I even got my "lost baggage" bike lock back. Lucky, i guess.

I also finally got my grubby hands on a small gps logger. Much smaller than Frida, but also much more boring. Might want to use one similar to that for Frida's GPS, as it computes the location really quickly after turning it on. Might be the battery and AGPS thing inside help?

In september it was used at the first Ljubljana OSM Mapping party. We are preparing for more mapping parties in Slovenia.

Thinking a lot about kites, model planes and aerial photography. Hoping for some time and resources to make something next year that can be used to contribute to OpenAerialMap.

Still coming soon to Belgrade and Novi Sad!

In 2006 Frida was part of the Computer Art Festival in Maribor, Crash Test Dummy in Ljubljana and München, and Device Art in Zagreb and the Piksel in Bergen.

Frida V. was in San Francisco - visit RX Gallery (physically) from Saturday December 16th!

The v2 (usb) design was tested in Norway and safely returned by mail.

In December 2005 we took on Manhattan (and some of the rest of NYC). Our base was at the Thing space inside the beautiful and historic AT&T building in Tribeca, at 32 Avenue of the Americas (6th ave), cross Walker street.

The project was also exhibited in 2005 at the Moderna Gallery in Ljubljana as part of the TERRITORIES, IDENTITIES, NETS exhibiton.

First appearance at DEAF04 in Rotterdam was a success, some photos and videos are linked from FridaMedia. Next location was Ljubljana, where the project is still going on and developed further. If you wish to participate, please contact [[User:Luka|Luka].

A wider context of the Rotterdam show can be had from the proposal for DEAF 2004: The Cartographic Command Centre.

This project started as a cooperation between Ljudmila - Ljubljana Digital Media Lab and V2 Organisation.
