Design Goals
From FridaV
- the design must use easily available and inexpensive components
- the used components should be small and lightweight
- power usage should be as low as possible to last trough a long ride
- the drivers' interface should be minimal, comfortable, functional and fun
- electronic components and wiring should not fail during a bumpy ride
- the vehicle must be safe for the driver and other participants in traffic
- clocks in all the recording equipment must be synchronized
- aquired data and media should be transmitted from the vehicle wirelessly
- found open access points could be used to upload and download data and media
- all necessary software and must be available under a free or open-source license
- recharging should be possible using a single power mains cable
- should provide storage for chalk sticks and sponge in a practical container
the V. in the name is also the roman numeral 5, hinting that it will probably take 5 attempts to build a
FRIDA vehicle that satisfies all the set goals optimally. the name is also an obscure reference to
Eda V. - a successful airplane built by slovenian flight pioneers Rusjan brothers in 1910.
